Car Shows for Newest Models 31
May
Posted by Y & eX in Car Shows on 05 31st, 2010

If the idea of car shows to you brings to mine a huge field with dozens or even hundreds of old and antique cars spread around you may decide that this simply is not something that you are interested in. But did you know that there are also car shows that the car manufacturers hold to show off the newest makes and models they are releasing to the general public?

Theses shows are spectacular with a few cars of each design that is being featured located strategically around the showroom. Most people are not able to actually drive the new car, but they can certainly get a good up close look at the car and see exactly how it will look when it is released on the market for everyone to purchase.

These events are sometimes open to the general public and other times they are limited to only those who are invited to the event. Typically, if the event is by invitation only the company sponsoring the event will invite a few news stations, as well as some of the car critics to come see what their newest car looks like. This can sometimes be a very exciting adventure, and there are times when they will give away tickets for admission so that others can attend as well.

These car shows tend to differ a bit from most car shows that you are used to, most car shows have vehicles of multiple models and makes all around the fair grounds, however at these car shows there is not as much diversity that you can see. Of course if you have any questions about the newest cars this makes the greatest place to be to ask about the new models. There are always plenty of staff people on hand that can answer your questions about the newest model for you without any problems.

If you are looking for these car shows, you generally have to work hard to find out exactly when they are located. Most car manufacturers do not readily announce the show to everyone. They do however still tell some of the major car lots that sell their vehicles and also let some of the new stations know when and where the show is. This allows everyone the opportunity to find out when they can attend if they are interested. It is important to realize that these car shows are vastly different from other car shows, there are not multiple old cars around, and there is also strict security at these events.

Many of these events also have dress codes of what is considered appropriate to wear. Ensure that you ask about all requirements before you travel to the event to ensure that you are fully prepared when you arrive. Depending on the location of the car show you may need to arrange for a hotel room, it is very important if you need to book a hotel room that you do this in advance rather than waiting until the day of the show to attempt at booking your room.

While there may not be tons of cars to see at these special car shows, they are often a great experience and it is an amazing treat being able to see all of the newest cars before they officially roll into the car lots for the public to see themselves. Being able to see these special cars in advance is a rare treat that many people enjoy. It is something that you can arrange if you know where to check ahead of time, but just showing up at the car show the day of the show will generally not help you get inside.

If you plan your trip ahead carefully, you can have a lot of fun. Of course taking some pictures of the car show can be a great way to remember the special car show that you have attended and makes a great souvenir that you can always treasure. Once you have successfully gotten into one car show you will likely find it is much easier to get into future car shows.

Sizing Mountain bikes 30
May
Posted by Y & eX in Biking on 05 30th, 2010

Along with giving you a better selection and expert
advice, bike shop personnel can you help you get
fitted to the right size bike. You can get the bike
either too big or too small, which will cause your
enjoyment to suffer. Follow the tips below, and
you’ll have the perfect fit for your mountain bike.

Standover height
When you check the fitting yourself, the first thing
you want to check is the inseam clearance, or the
standover height. You want to have plenty of room
between yourself and the top tube when you come to
a stop. There should be around four to six inches
of clearance from the top of your inseam to the top
of the top tube.

Leg and feet position
There’s a nifty formula for determining the leg
position for riding a mountain bike. When riding
a mountain bike, the terrain constantly changes,
raising you off the seat constantly, sometimes just
slightly, other times completely off.

Therefore, you’ll need to sit your saddle slightly
lower than you would on any other type of bike.
Be sure you take this slightly lower seat height
position into effect when you factor the size of
the frame.

Riding compartment
The next thing you’ll want to check is the rider
compartment layout (the distance between the saddle
and the handlebars). Once the proper leg extension
has been determined, be sure the handlebar is one
to two inches below the height of the saddle. You
should never have the handlebars higher than the
seat, unless there is some type of upper body
problem.

Dual suspension bikes
With suspension being at both ends, you’ll want
your weight more in the middle of the bike so that
your weight is distributed evenly between the front
and rear suspension units, thus allowing the front
and rear suspension to work as a unit.

This can be done quite easily by using either a
higher or shorter stem to raise the hand height,
which will in turn move the upper body up and the
weight towards the rear. The increase in rise
shouldn’t be no more than two inches, then the
decrease in reach shouldn’t be any more than two
inches.

Test ride
Once you have taken all of these steps into account,
go out and test drive the bike. Make sure you
wear a helmet, even if you are going to be testing
for a brief period of time. Be sure that the tires
are set to the right pressure, and the shop has
adjusted the bike for you properly.

You should have a shop employee observe your body
position and ride height while riding, to determine
is any further adjustments need to be made. Ride
the bike around for a bit to get used to its
handling and new equipment. Start off slowly, then
give the bike a bit of time to present its personality.

After a few minutes, you might notice that something
isn’t working correctly or just doesn’t feel right
in general. If this happens, go back to the shop
and have the problem corrected before you rule out
the bike.

The more you ride bikes, the easier it will be to
tell the difference in the ride types. Keep in mind,
it may take months and even years to appreciate the
way a bike handles. Talk to those who ride, and
ask them if they ride the bikes they sell. This
way, you’ll learn more about the mountain bikes you
love so much!

Increase Your Distance With Tips For Senior Golf Players 29
May

Just because you play senior golf does mean you lose that distance. If you have been playing regularly, you may have already adjusted your fitness and your clubs and other equipment. If you continue to play, you always make adjustment for age. You never have to stop playing golf. Golfing is probably one of the most popular recreational games an older person can play without hurting himself or herself. You might need some instructions or tips on how to maintain that distance that every golfer wants.

While your body changes as you get older, you want to stay fit. This is the reasoning behind doing some strengthening exercises and some flexibility training. Keeping your body strong and flexible will only enhance the game and help you achieve the distance you need. Maybe a little weight lifting to keep the upper body in shape is needed as you get older. Stretching the legs daily will help to keep you flexible for a natural string, which helps with the distance you get from your swing. The more flexible you keep the body, the better you will be in you swing. Fitness is also necessary to walk the distances between holes as well. If you are not use to walking, you could tire easily. Not all golf courses will have golf cart for you.

Having the right equipment also makes a difference in your swing and the distance you get on the ball. As a person ages, they need different clubs that can help you swing better and drive the ball farther. The thing to look for is the club shaft flex, the length of the club and of course the lie angle. These are important factors in a golf club. Sometimes the senior golfer may take a lesson or two from a pro. This just enhances the game and you can learn some techniques that the pros use.

The clubs you use do make a difference when you participate in senior golf. Even the pros change golf clubs as their body and age changes. The more flex you have in a club should give you more distance. This is seen by seasoned players as well as the pros. If you are just starting out, you will probably want to take a few lessons and practice on the driving range to get the most distance on the ball before trying the greens.

Senior golf has become very popular even for beginners. It is a nice way to spend your retirement and stay fit at the same time. Some of the pros do suggest starting out slow if you are new to golf and before you take any lessons or play a round of golf, you should have some type of fitness regiment to keep the body flexible. This will help your game as well as prevent injury. A good pair of shoes is also very important not only for walking in but also for your stance. If your shoes are uncomfortable, you are not going to stand correctly when hitting the golf ball.

When you are taking part in soccer training, you will quickly learn that kicking in a key component in the difference between a successful game and a game that lacks success. This is why many coaches express the importance of practicing your kicks during soccer training. There are numerous methods that you can use to ensure success when practicing this particular aspect of your soccer game. There are many ways that you can practice kicking by yourself. Many players practice kicking a ball against a wall or other surface and then practice various kicks as it comes back to them. There are many who will place a target on a wall to kick the ball too. This is a great method to use when you wish to gain better control over the soccer ball through soccer training. Read The Feed Bag Tag 27
May
Posted by Y & eX in Uncategorized on 05 27th, 2010

Don’t really know what is in your horse feed in the bag? Join the growing crowd of horse people who are confused about what is really in their horse’s feed. However, having said that, it’s an easy problem to remedy with a bit of knowledge. Learn to read a feed-bag tag. Find out how much protein your horse needs and learn to balance feed protein and forage (out in the pasture) protein.
Your equine needs protein for development and repair of muscle, healthy skin, hair, and hooves, for milk production, reproduction and the maintenance of healthy red blood cells and bone. This does not include weight gain or energy.
Here’s an idea of the minimum daily crude protein requirements: mature idle horses 8.5%, mares in the last 90 days of pregnancy 11%, mares in lactation 14%, foals 18%, weanlings 16%, yearlings 13.5%, two-year-olds 10% and performance horses 10%.
The first nutrient listed on a feed-bag tag is crude protein, and you want it to be highly digestible. The best source of protein is soybean meal, because it’s rich in lysine and other amino acids, meaning high digestibility. However, soybean meal is expensive, so lower quality feeds use corn gluten meal, linseed meal, brewer’s grain and distiller’s grain. Hmmm, this means you get what you pay for, so beware.
Here’s how to figure out if you horse is getting its daily protein requirement. If your horse is eating 5 pounds of 10% crude protein grain and 15 pounds of grass hay tested at 6% crude protein, do the math. Five pounds of grain times 10% equals 50; 15 pounds of hay times 6% equals 90. Add those together and you get 140 units of protein per day. Now add the total weight of the feed per day, 5 pounds and 15 pounds and you get 20 pounds per day. Divide the feed weight into the protein units (20 divided into 140) and you get 7% protein in the horse’s diet. Great, but what if your horse needs 10% protein per day?
If your horse needs more protein, then your option is to feed a higher protein forage or higher protein grain. The preferred option is feeding a higher crude protein forage. Do not feed more protein than your horse needs. It’s a waste of money and feeding excess protein can cause health problems. Horses purge their systems of excessive protein by drinking large amounts of water, which can result in kidney problems.
When in doubt about feed, consult your Veterinarian.

So You Want a Corporate Sponsorship – Here’s How 26
May
Posted by Y & eX in Uncategorized on 05 26th, 2010

Let’s say you’re a budding athlete, with top ranking and stats as a tennis player. You have what it takes to become a world-class sports player in your field but have limited amount in terms of funds. The answer, as most would suggest, is to get a corporate sponsorship.

As sports are one of the major kinds of areas that corporations use as a market for brand exposure, you’d think that sponsorship would be a cinch. The case is that its not. Obtaining a corporate sponsorship is not as easy as 1, 2, and 3. Reaching your dreams as a world-class tennis player, aside from the skill and talent, also needs a little tinkering in ’selling yourself’.

Get noticed

How exactly can you put your skills and talents ‘out there’ in the market for potential sponsors? Below are the ways:

The right kind of resume

As with every type of job, building a resume is an important part in getting employers to notice you. This is the same with corporate sponsors and the type of athlete they are looking for. The amount of hard work, training, way of playing will be the pinnacle points that sponsors will look for. The ‘package’ in which you come in is very important and the only way to be considered is that if your ‘accomplishments’ are worthy of review and consideration.

Depend on yourself to do your ‘advertising’

Nothing comes easy, and this includes wanting a sponsorship. You have to earn what you want, and having to be your own agent is a crucial step. Depending on someone else to do your ‘contacting’ will not result in the way you want to be exposed and seen.

Get in touch with companies; write sponsorship letters; invite them to see you play – those are what you should do to get their attention. When a company sees the dedication and amount of perseverance one takes in wanting a sponsorship, it won’t be long before they offer it you themselves.

It is in this area that you will learn how to face rejection and deal with issues that address your ability as an athlete. Don’t forget to always be positive in all dealings. Starting out is always the hard part, and once this obstacle is overcome, everything else will be a breeze at doing.

Act as your ambassador

Let’s say you’ve landed a small sponsorship and received a small amount of support. This is good as that sponsorship often starts small. It is important to remember that ‘keeping an A is harder than earning an A’ – which also applies to sponsorship.

Always keep in touch with your sponsor, letting them in on updates regarding your training and athletic status is very good. Through this practice, doors of bigger sponsorship opportunities will open because the closer you bring yourself to your sponsors, the bigger the chance for more lucrative support.

Always challenge yourself

It is not only through contact and appeal that makes sponsor continue and offer support and backup. It is also through your performance as an athlete that ultimately will bring in the ‘big bucks’. Always upping your game to become better and eventually number one is an important aspect in all sponsorships.

The need to be on top, and the need to be ambitious gears one into availing all the support since sponsoring someone with that kind of attitude, talent and skills is a perfect equation of give-and-take between sponsors and sponsees.

Art Sports: Wrestling 24

Wrestling is a sport involving two competitors competing to show their physical strength. This form of martial arts is as old as the mountains. Military are given training in wrestling as a part of self-defense systems. Folk people, who used lethal weapons as part of ritual fighting, also practiced it. Professional wrestling uses techniques like holding, clinching, leverage and locking.

The act of wrestling has been mentioned in many religious scriptures such as Old Testament Book of Genesis, where Jacob wrestles with the angel, The Mahabharata, where Bhima and Jarasandha wrestle. In recorded history, Chinese wrestling or Shuai Jiao is the oldest form of wrestling continuing since four thousand years, which the Yellow Emperor deployed to defeat rebel Chih Yui and his army. Both the armies wore horned helmet to aim with at the opponent. This early form was called Jiao Ti. Hands replaced the horns later. According to documented evidence on the tomb of the Old Kingdom philosopher Ptahhotep, Egyptians and Nubian wrestlers used to engage in wrestling for competitive purpose, around 2300 BC. Later during the Greek era, 1100 BC – 146 BC, Greek wrestling was practiced in competition where one wrestler would force his competitor to the ground and made him accept defeat or used to push him out of the boundary. When the Romans conquered Greece, they inherited the martial art and gave it their name, Roman wrestling.

Wrestling can be broadly divided into two categories, International wrestling and folk wrestling. International wrestling includes freestyle wrestling, sambo, Greco-roman wrestling, beach wrestling, judo and grappling. Freestyle wrestling is a part of the Olympics sports. It is a form of amateur wrestling where two wrestlers of the same weight class compete with each other. A wrestler is declared a winner when he defeats his opponent by five methods. They are winning by fall, winning by superiority, winning by decision, winning by injury and winning by disqualification. The basic rule is that a wrestler can hold the legs of his opponent and trip him. A good wrestler is quick and has good maneuvering skills. It is the only form of international wrestling meant for women.

In Greco-Roman style, a wrestler cannot hold his opponents leg and trip him and nor can he hold the opponent below his waist. It is also a type of amateur wrestling which is part of the Olympics. Grappling or submission wrestling involves no strikes, Gripping, handling and controlling defeats the opponent. There are many grappling techniques involved. Grappling can be practiced while standing or when on the ground. They are known as stand-up grappling and ground grappling respectively. The types of grappling are catch wrestling, luta livre, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, jujutsu, pankration and shoot wrestling.

Japanese martial art or Judo originated in the late nineteenth century, in Japan. The opponent is thrown to the ground and is forced to accept defeat by choking or joint locking.

The unique characteristic of beach wrestling is that the wrestlers wrestle inside a ring filled with sand. Heavy and light are the only two weight class categories. Wrestlers wearing swimsuits throw the opponent to the ground, to get on their backs. Women are also practicing this game.

Sambo is the modern martial art that developed in Soviet Union and is one of the amateur wrestling.

There are many versions of folk wrestling depending on the location of origin and culture in the specified area. Folk wrestling is yet to receive the status of International wrestling.

Are you looking for a new sport to enjoy? If you are, you may be interested in watching a few NASCAR races, either live and in-person or on television. After awhile, you may even find yourself becoming a full fledge NASCAR fan.

Although NASCAR is a sport that is relatively easy to learn the ropes of, many new fans are still left with questions. One of the most commonly questions asked is “which driver should I support and why?” Although there are over thirty NASCAR drivers to choose from, some are much more well known and popular than others. To help you learn more about the sport of racing, as well as the professionals behind the wheel, a few popular NASCAR drivers and a few of their accomplishments are highlighted below.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has, perhaps, the most recognized name currently involved in the sport of racing. Although most of his popularity is attributed to the success of his late father, Dale Earnhardt Sr., Earnhardt Jr. has more than made a name for himself. With seventeen career wins at the end of the 2007 race season, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a NASCAR driver that most fans have their eyes on.

Known for his good looks and charm, especially with female fans, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is most well known as the driver of the number 8 Budweiser machine; however, that all changes in 2008. Due to a team change, Junior will now be the driver of the number 88, with main sponsors of Mountain Dew Amp and the National Guard.

Jeff Gordon is another popular NASCAR driver. In fact, his name is also a common household name. Jeff Gordon blew, literally, on the racing circuit in the 1990s and saw success almost immediately. In fact, many NASCAR drivers wished that they saw the success that Jeff Gordon did when he first started racing.

Jeff Gordon is driver of the number 24 DuPont and Pepsi machine. He is a driver for the ever successful Hendrick Motorsports. With six championship wins at the end of the 2007 season, Jeff Gordon has shows no sign of stopping, in terms of achieving the ultimate level of success.

Jimmie Johnson is another well known and successful NASCAR driver who is a part of the Hendrick Motorsports team. Jimmie Johnson is the holder of the 2006 NASCAR championship. As with many other NASCAR drivers, Johnson got his start with racing on an amateur level at a young age. His choice of vehicle was motorcycles, which according to the NASCAR website, he started racing at the age of four!

Mark Martin, although much older in age and wiser in maturity than that of many of today’s most popular NASCAR drivers, is still popular in his own right. For many NASCAR fans, especially those who have followed the sport since the early 1990’s, Martin is a driver that many all known and love. At the end of the 2007 season, Mark Martin has a total thirty-five career wins. Perhaps, most well known for his days in behind the wheel of the Valvoline machine, Martin will spend 2008 driving for Team D.E.I.

Kasey Kahne is another up and coming NASCAR driver that is gaining the attention of fans. In 2004, Kahne raced in all three NASCAR series, including NASCAR, BUSCH, and the Craftsman Truck Series. With Dale Earnhardt Jr. changing teams, Kasey Kahne and his 9 car have acquired the sponsorship of Budweiser, which is a move that is sure to increase his exposure, as well as his fan base.

Additional NASCAR drivers worth the mention include Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, and Bobby Labonte, just to name a few. If you would like to learn more about these drivers, you are advised to turn to the internet. On the official website for NASCAR, which is located at www.nascar.com, you can review driver profiles and stats. Additional information can easily be found with a standard internet search.

As previously stated, the above mentioned NASCAR drivers are just a few of the many professional racers who love their jobs and are good at what they do. Are you a fan of NASCAR racing? If you are, do you collect NASCAR memorabilia? If you do not, you may want to start, as there are a number of benefits to doing so. Just a few of those benefits include showing support for the sport and you know and love, as well as the potential to make a profit.

Although you will find some variations, there are many individuals who claim that there is a difference between NASCAR merchandise and NASCAR memorabilia. Generally speaking, merchandise is items that we use and wear, such as home décor, home furniture, and clothing. On the other hand, memorabilia is typically used to define objects that have some value. Many professional NASCAR collectors and dealers, consider memorabilia to be limited edition model cars, die cast cars, and so forth

Now that you know just a few of the many reasons why you should collect NASCAR memorabilia, as well as what many consider it to be, you may be curious as to how you can go about doing so. After a close look, you will see that you have a number of different options. If you are looking to shop locally, examine specialty sports or racing stores, especially those that have a collectables theme. For local shops, use the internet, namely online business directories, or a local phone book.

In addition to using the internet to find information on local sport shops or collectors who may sell NASCAR memorabilia, you will want to use the internet to examine your shopping options as well. There are many sports collectors and specialty shops, with racing themes, that operate online. When taking this approach, you can search for generalized merchandise by performing a search with the phrase “NASCAR memorabilia,” or you can search for something in particular, such as a “limited edition die cast Dale Earnhardt car.”

Races are another great way that you can go about finding NASCAR memorabilia for sale. While most of the items that you will find for sale at a racetrack can technically be considered merchandise pieces, you may find memorabilia for sale as well. Many NASCAR tracks have shops onsite and other allows NASCAR dealers to temporarily set up shop. While there aren’t any guarantees, you may find a considerable amount of NASCAR memorabilia for sale at live race events.

Yard sales, thrift stores, flea markets, and online auction websites are just a few of the other ways that you can go about finding NASCAR memorabilia for sale. Yard sales, flea markets, and thrift sports typically specialize in the selling of used items, but you may be surprised with what you see. You are more likely to find memorabilia for retired drivers, as well as valuable collectables when checking out these locations.

The above mentioned ways are just a few of the many ways that you can go about finding NASCAR memorabilia available for sale. If you are collecting for the sole purpose of personal enjoyment, you may have more freedom in what you can buy. Those looking to turn a profit should look at the buying of NASCAR memorabilia from the standpoint of a business investment; therefore, purchases should be made wisely. Research can and should be done to determine the estimated value of rare or limited edition memorabilia pieces before making a purchase, to help prevent overpayment.
